Computing Feasible Points for MINLPs with MPECs

چکیده
Nonconvex mixed-integer nonlinear optimization problems frequently appear in practice and are typically extremely hard to solve. In this paper we discuss a class of primal heuristics that are based on a reformulation of the problem as a mathematical program with equilibrium constraints. We then use different regularization schemes for this class of problems and use an iterative solution procedure for solving series of regularized problems. In the case of success, these procedures result in a feasible solution of the original mixed-integer nonlinear problem. Since we only rely on local nonlinear programming solvers the resulting method is fast and we further improve its robustness by additional algorithmic techniques. We show the strength of our method by an extensive computational study on 662 MINLPLib2 instances, where our methods are able to produce feasible solutions for 60% of all instances in at

A New Regularization Method for Mathematical Programs with Complementarity Constraints with Strong Convergence Properties
Mathematical programs with equilibrium (or complementarity) constraints, MPECs for short, form a difficult class of optimization problems. The feasible set has a very special structure and violates most of the standard constraint qualifications. Therefore, one typically applies specialized algorithms in order to solve MPECs. One very prominent class of specialized algorithms are the regularizat...
متن کاملConvergence Properties of the Inexact Lin-fukushima Relaxation Method for Mathematical Programs with Equilibrium Constraints
Mathematical programs with equilibrium (or complementarity) constraints, MPECs for short, form a difficult class of optimization problems. The feasible set of MPECs is described by standard equality and inequality constraints as well as additional complementarity constraints that are used to model equilibrium conditions in different applications. But these complementarity constraints imply that...
متن کاملSolving Large-Scale Nonlinear Programming Problems by Constraint Partitioning
In this paper, we present a constraint-partitioning approach for finding local optimal solutions of large-scale mixed-integer nonlinear programming problems (MINLPs). Based on our observation that MINLPs in many engineering applications have highly structured constraints, we propose to partition these MINLPs by their constraints into subproblems, solve each subproblem by an existing solver, and...
متن کاملMixed-integer nonlinear programs featuring "on/off" constraints
In this paper, we study MINLPs featuring “on/off” constraints. An “on/off” constraint is a constraint f(x) ≤ 0 that is activated whenever a corresponding 0-1 variable is equal to 1. Our main result is an explicit characterization of the convex hull of the feasible region when the MINLP consists of simple bounds on the variables and one “on/off” constraint defined by an isotone function f . When...
متن کاملType-2 fuzzy set extension of DEMATEL method combined with perceptual computing for decision making
Most decision making methods used to evaluate a system or demonstrate the weak and strength points are based on fuzzy sets and evaluate the criteria with words that are modeled with fuzzy sets. The ambiguity and vagueness of the words and different perceptions of a word are not considered in these methods. For this reason, the decision making methods that consider the perceptions of decision...
